Healing from trauma and the mother wound

Publications

Healing from trauma has been challenging, but Rica has found the voice to speak about women’s issues. In addition to her books Petals of Rain and Nobody’s Daughter, she writes essays and articles about the mother wound, parenting a child with ADHD,  divorce, mindfulness and single motherhood. Her recent work describes new challenges as a 40-something grandmother of an autistic granddaughter.

As an author and former journalist, Rica has learned to harness the power of storytelling. Her goal is to share it with others seeking healing from trauma. While her essays often cover critical and urgent topics, she weaves in humor and joy. She aims to help women find the courage to claim victory over victimization.

Readers and reviewers have called her books “fiercely candid and raw,” “poignant and inspirational.” Her work is hailed as essential to anyone on the path of healing from trauma.

When she’s not writing, Rica spends her time consuming large quantities of jalapeños, doing yoga, and reading and buying books. She’s a proud dog mommy of a 60 lb. mutt who mistakenly believes she is a lapdog. Rica is the author of  Petals of Rain: A Mother’s Memoir and Nobody’s Daughter , a memoir of healing the mother wound.
